Inspection and Testing

The importance of regular inspection and testing of electrical installations cannot be overstated, but unfortunately it is an aspect of electrical safety which is very often overlooked. It is now a requirement of the Regulations that the installer of an installation must tell the user of the need for periodic test and inspection and the date on which such attention is required.

DIY installation is not recommended unless a competant person is involved. It is very easy and from experience to see why bad practice installing cable and fittings takes place when sometimes accessing ring main or radial circuits to expand these circuits means cutting into walls and floors etc....There is no excuse for poor workmanship and taking all aspects of safety into consideraton when involved with an electrical installation is very important.

Not using the correct materials or installation specification can put lives at risk...and so frequently this happens and property and lives are destroyed and more often than not its poor installation thats the cause.

Over time materials such as cable, switch fittings deteriorate with use and environment so a peridic inspection is necessary to ensure that this deterioration is measured and measures taken to correct it.. It will also give you piece of mind as well as you insurance company.....
